Fall is just around the corner in Colorado, but are you prepared? It’s a great time of year to get out your decorations and really make your backyard a special place to hang out with your friends and family. However, it takes a lot of work to find the perfect Fall decorations so we’re here to help take a little weight off your shoulders so you can spend your time enjoying the cool Fall weather.
Create A Pumpkin Display
Pumpkins are the most iconic symbol of fall, and without them on every street corner, this time of year just wouldn’t be the same! If you’re looking into fall decorations, this should be the first place you start.
Begin by getting a large variety of pumpkins at the store or at a pumpkin patch. Look for different sizes, shapes, and colors to really compliment your backyard. After that, you’ll want to head to the craft store to get some sort of container. Look for a rustic looking crate, wheelbarrow, or bucket, anything that will match with the style of fall. You can also get a cornucopia and adorn it with corn, flowers, or fruit to take your display to the next level.
If you want to make your display a little more inviting, try writing messages on the pumpkins for guests, or get a sign from a craft store to welcome visitors.
Throw A Harvest Party
There’s no better way to celebrate the spirit of Thanksgiving than to have a harvest party! What constitutes a harvest party, you ask? Well, I’m talking about a real traditional Thanksgiving feast. One that makes even the pilgrims jealous! Take your dining table outside on the lawn for a night and adorn it with all the best fall decorations you can muster. Finish it off with your standard Thanksgiving turkey feast, and you’ll be sure to give everyone a Thanksgiving to remember.
Don’t Over Do It With The Halloween Decorations
Sorry if I offend anyone by saying this, but these are tips on how to make your yard embellished with the beauty of fall and that doesn’t always involve Halloween decorations. That’s not to say you shouldn’t have them, but if you want to fully embrace the beauty of the season, you’ll want to keep the skeletons and werewolves to a minimum. If you want to turn your backyard into a haunted house, that’s for another time!
Add Some Light
If you want to spend long Autumn nights out on the deck with a glass of eggnog, you’re going to need some lights. Jack-o-lanterns are fun to make and part of the fall tradition, but they don’t provide much light.
For some simple lighting, take some mason jars and glue some big and beautiful leaves to one side of it, then simply put a candle in it and light it! It’s a really easy way to show your guests that fall means something special to you.
Another great lighting idea is to take some standard Christmas lights and find some orange ping pong balls, and cut a small hole in them, just big enough for the light. Once you insert the light, you’ll be able to add a nice orange glow to any of your nighttime decorations.
