Prepare Your Deck
One thing many homeowners dread is performing annual maintenance on their decks. Sure, it takes some work, but what if I told you that you could cut this process in half and spend half the time treating your deck?
You’re going to want to go to the hardware store and look for a product that does both staining and sealing in one. This way you’ll only have to go over your deck once but you’ll be getting waterproofing, protection, and the beautiful new look that stain brings to it. Just remember to clean your deck thoroughly beforehand and wait for it to dry.
Prepare Your Lawn
Finally, and possibly most importantly, you need to make sure your deck is in tip-top shape when summer comes around. One of the benefits of doing this work in the spring rather than in the summer is that it’s a lot cooler outside, so it’s more manageable. On top of that, the soil is wet enough that pulling weeds is a breeze.
This is also one of the most common times of year to start aerating, a process that opens up the soil to allow in nutrients that the grass will need to grow during late spring and summer. If you’re looking for ways to make your grass greener this year, aerating is a good place to start.
